WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYPNOSIS AND HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnosis is not as unusual as you might think, it is actually something that most people experience multiple times a day. It can happen spontaneously or be induced and when it does it feels quite good. Hypnosis is defined as a state of focused attention and reduced pperipheral awarenes, also called trance. There are many levels or stages of trance and the deeper you go the more open to suggestions you become. 

 

Hypnotherapy is a treatment-based approach that uses an induced state of hypnosis as a way to access and reprogram the subconscious mind. This trance state allows the client to easily access the memories and emotions that are stored deep in their subconscious and respond positively to suggestions that help to reprogram patterns of thought and behavior.

CAN YOU MAKE ME DO SOMETHING I DONT WANT TO DO?

No! This is a common misconception about hypnosis. Although the state of hypnosis does heighten suggestibility, it does not override your common sense, or moral values. If you are a vegan, I could not hypnotize you and make you eat a cheese burger.

 

Have ever seen a stage hypnosis show where someone quacks like a duck or barks like a dog?Somewhere in that persons subconscious they wanted to go on stage and preform, because of the deep relaxation people can experience during hypnosis they lose some of their inhibitions and negative self-talk. They are able to act silly, have fun and enjoy the attention from the crowd.

CAN ANYONE BE HYPNOTIZED?

Yes! Anyone can be hypnotized… if they want to be. Willingness is a key factor to a successful       hypnosis. We all know how hypnotizing our screens can be, but they have no power over us unless we choose to pick them up and look at them. Hypnotherapy is the same, it only works if the client has a true desire to make a change and is willing to do the work.

WILL I REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENS WHILE I'M HYPNOTIZED?

Most people remember everything that happens during their session. Hypnotherapy is the most effective when using a light to medium level of trance that allows the client to stay conscious and communicate with the therapist. There may be times where you slip into a deeper trance, feel disconnect from the external stimulus and experience “blanks” in time. I record all of my sessions so that you are able to go back and recover any mission pieces or review your session anytime you want.
